Filming Blog

My group and I did our first day of filming on September 29. We needed other props to record some of the scenes, therefore we did what we could with what we had at the moment. Our roles this day varied from person to person. Lili changed her outfit to look more vintage which will be the theme for our commercial. In addition, Lili who is playing "Leila" was acting as if she had forgotten her backpack in the first scene that we were able to take. Aleiah who is sitting next to her does a little shuffle and looks to both sides as if she were confused and then ran out of the camera. This was our first scene that we took, because we all decided that it would be a good idea to have our base done before we continue shooting the rest of the commercial. The middle part of our commercial could not be completed yet, because as I had said earlier, we were missing some props. With the time remaining, we then shot the last scene where "Leila" is walking up the stairs. Therefore, our first day of filming had a two-shot and a low angle shot. Lili and Aleiah were the only two people in front of the camera on this day. My role was to film everything to the best of my ability. I actually really enjoyed being behind the camera and setting everything up. In addition, I decided to bring a phone stand to film, because I thought it would be extremely useful. It would help me when recording any take, because my hands wouldn't be shaking and the camera would be still. I will continue to bring it on our other days of filming, because we all found it very helpful and clever. Furthermore, the backpack that is depicted in the image below (which is part of one of our takes) is going to be "Leila's" backpack that she forgets to bring with her when the bell rings. We decided to use my book bag, because we found it vibrant and a good color to make it the main backpack that will be used in the entire video. When shooting the scenes, I took out some notebooks that I had in there to not make it as heavy to carry around, but I left some in to make the backpack still look like something is inside it. Also, I would like to add that the weather was perfect for the camera lighting, however I was drenched in sweat while recording. It was a beautiful day, but the sun was really beating down on us. In the end, I really enjoyed making our commercial this day and I think it turned out good with what we have so far.
