Creative Critical Reflection

 1. How does your products use or challenge conventions AND how does it represent social groups or issues? My products used conventions  by  u tilizing  the factor of showing the  distinctive designs  and colors that JanSport backpacks supply.  Most of the original JanSport commercials showed the patterns and creativity of the bookbags , so my group and I thought it was an excellent element to the film and dec ided to use it.  In addition, we used the brick edge to sit and show your feet in the camera with the bag.  This was seen in the first shot.  On the other hand , my product also challenged conventions due the fact that  in some of the  actual JanSport commercials  the actors  threw the backpacks in the water to show durability and sustainability.  They also used skateboards, showed students sneaking out of campus, and portrayed them running on the beach, however we  could n’ t  do this since we were on campus and had restricted  sites  of the  school. Furthermore,  my  commercial

My group and I have finished the commercial! It was a lot of fun working with my team, Aleiah and Lili. We collaborated together effectively and efficiently throughout the whole making of the commercial. Creating the film helped my growth in the industry of media studies. Knowing all of the information I learned, I now know for future projects that it will be much easier to flow through the work. Furthermore, I had an exciting and crazy journey to get to this point in the project. My group and I put much consideration, hard work, and in the end displayed improvement in our filming skills. To record the commercial we used my phone and stand for stability, and Lili's iPad for editing. We worked through the heat and compromised ideas to fit everything into a 30-second video. All in all, I had a lot of enjoyment and I am pleased with the end result.

Today, October 13th, my group and I finished up our editing and completed our commercial. After aligning all of the clips together, I had to work on adding the sounds and voiceovers. This included asking the two people that helped my group and I for recordings of them saying "Pass it to Leila". Lili, Aleiah, and I also had to voiceover some of the lines that were crucial in adding to the commercial. To do this, my group, the two extra people, and I went outside of the classroom to find a quiet place. We wanted it to be silent so there was no confusion on what the person is saying and a clearer voice. The thing that happened to us however was that when we exited the classroom, the school's grass was being cut. Therefore, we had to go to the cafeteria and record our voices inside so there is no interruptions in the clips. The two extra individuals had to enunciate "Pass it to Leila" and Aleiah had to say that phrase too with an additional quote "Hey wait"

On October 11th, my group and I edited all of our shots together into one complete commercial. Since I had recorded all of the shots, I transferred them into an application called CapCut so my group could access it as well. Some of the shots we had taken were too long and took much space up from the entirety of the video. Therefore, my group and I had to cut some of them into shorter clips, while still having it make sense. We made everything fit into a final time of 28 seconds. However, it is still missing the logo that my group and I want to add at the end of the film. I feel that it is essential to add the JanSport logo to finalize the video. Not only will this conclude the commercial, but it will also remind the audience what product the video is persuading. It will leave them thinking of the name "JanSport" which will overall complete the goal of intriguing and making them want to purchase the backpack. Furthermore, referring back to my idea to make the commercial look v

Filming Blog

My second day of filming was on Tuesday, October 5th. Today I had a better hang of everything and moved at a quicker pace. Fortunately, I finished filming all of my scenes and had some help on the way. The first shot I was taking was the second-to-last scene. This is where I had to be in front of the camera with Lili (who is playing "Leila"). We were shooting the part where "Leila" had to drop all of her extras to the floor, including notebooks and a water bottle. This was probably the shot that took the most takes due to the fact that Lili and I could not stop laughing. I was having fun while filming, however this caused us to take up much time. During this, Aleiah was behind the camera telling us when to start acting. My group was already sweating before we even pressed the button to start the video. The heat was disrupting us since we started to turn red and our eyes were tearing up, but we were able to get through it in the end. An error that I worked around was
