Editing Blog
Today, October 13th, my group and I finished up our editing and completed our commercial. After aligning all of the clips together, I had to work on adding the sounds and voiceovers. This included asking the two people that helped my group and I for recordings of them saying "Pass it to Leila". Lili, Aleiah, and I also had to voiceover some of the lines that were crucial in adding to the commercial. To do this, my group, the two extra people, and I went outside of the classroom to find a quiet place. We wanted it to be silent so there was no confusion on what the person is saying and a clearer voice. The thing that happened to us however was that when we exited the classroom, the school's grass was being cut. Therefore, we had to go to the cafeteria and record our voices inside so there is no interruptions in the clips. The two extra individuals had to enunciate "Pass it to Leila" and Aleiah had to say that phrase too with an additional quote "Hey wait" in the beginning of the entirety of the film. I had to say "Who's Leila" and "Ok Bye". Lastly, Lili pronounced "Me" and "Bye". Throughout this process, we repeatedly had to record it, because the volume was really low or our voices were not in tune with when we opened our mouths in the shots. After already doing two people, my group and I found that on the application, CapCut, there was a section where you could raise or lower the volumes on the voiceovers. Accordingly, I either left it the same volume as when they said the phrases or raised it up very slightly. I had to adjust it so it wasn't overpowering the music in the background a lot or else it would be painful for the audience to hear. Thus, I balanced the voiceovers with the background music to create a swift sound for the viewers to listen to. Furthermore, I had to add the bell imitation in the first shot. I just found the sound of a ringing school bell and inserted it to the film. This added a special touch to help make what is occurring acknowledgeable. I did the same thing for the part in the last clip where "Leila" dropped her books on the ground. However, for this one it was less noticeable and was a very slight sound of something dropping. Additionally, my last task was to add the JanSport logo to the end of the commercial. I picked my favorite from searching through a wide variety and decided to go with a more original look. I inserted the logo to fade in and the background video to fade away. It created a smooth transition that makes the film look clean and organized. All in all, my group and I are finished editing and our commercial is ready.
