Production Blog: Final Editing
After reviewing my film multiple times I came to the realization that we needed more seconds. After filming a bit more to reach our two minutes, it was time to finalize our editing. The first thing I did was put everything into the application I've been using this whole time, CapCut. This software has helped my group and I tremendously throughout the editing process. After inserting all of our clips into one entire video, I placed them in order. This was made a lot easier with our storyboard in hand. Once I did this, I corrected the credits that I had placed earlier and made the font fit our horror film. We used the same font for every credit except the title since we wanted that to pop out the most. I placed transitions into the fonts so they could flow in and out of the screen. This will make the overall movie seem structured nicely and organized. Furthermore, I had to add in many sound effects to fit our shots. The first thing I inserted was the doorbell sound around the end of the film. It helps the audience understand that what had just occurred was a dream that Lili was waking up from. It can also be considered foreshadowing. Next, I put the noise of the knife scratching glass or a cardboard piece. It was harder to find the right sound for this since many that we searched for sounded unrealistic. Then, one of my favorite parts to place into the movie was when Lili screamed in the shower. Due to the fact that we wanted to add a scream besides hers, I looked for different girls screaming and found the perfect fit. Also, I included a sound for the lights flickering when Brianna and I were switching places in the mirror. This helped the scene be less awkward than it was initially. Lastly, the most satisfying scene was made even better with the sound I decided to add in, a thud and a screech of a hand running down a marble wall. The fact that the music went with the jump cuts and the hand slap made everything seem much neater in the end. All in all, the editing went pretty smooth once we had all of our clips in the correct order.
