Title Design Websites

Image
To begin with, my group and I decided to use the website called Art of the Titl e. The link to this website is https://www.artofthetitle.com . We wanted to utilize this to find many of the conventions in our selected genre, horror. With this website it was much easier to find our genre horror and analyze it. My group and I much rather preferred this website due to its easy availability, smooth controls, organization, and eye-catching set-up. What we did to find three of our title research movies were by, first, searching up horror in the search bar. Then, we scrolled down to find the different films. We only selected the ones that said, “Title Only .” We liked how it gave us a bunch of movies from our genre in one finding. Overall, we thought this website was a bit easier to use and liked its arrangement.   Furthermore, for the second website we went with one that is called Watch the Titles . The link to this website is https://www.watchthetitles.com . We only chose one m

What elements (Conventions) of the genre that you chose to base your final task on does this movie have?   The conventions this movie has are pretty diverse. For instance, concerning the camera angles and movements, this film contains a Bird’s Eye View, which makes the characters appear small and weak. However, low angles have also been used throughout the film to focus on certain aspects to let the audience know what is happening. Close up shots have also been used to portray a dramatic effect and a sense of suspense. Additionally, this movie includes a lot of over the shoulder shots that act similarly to a point of view, which makes the viewers see what the characters are looking at as well as their surroundings. Concerning the props, there are missing people signs to show the audience that setting this takes place is abandoned and deserted. In addition, one specific prop that is relevant to the storyline is an airplane toy. This toy is the start of the story because this is what let

What elements (Conventions) of the genre that you chose to base your final task on does this movie have? A common shot in this movie was an over the shoulder shot. In this movie it was cool in because it made the audience able to see the victim getting tortured. A big common mis-scene in this movie is the costume. Specifically the costume of creeper. It’s a black cape and a mask. We also saw the common prop of a phone. The phone was used to make the creepy phone call and to unlock and lock the doors. The common sound used was non-diegetic sound. It created the suspense. The most common editing would be jump cut. It had very fast movement.  What elements (conventions) of the genre did the movie and that you like?  The elements of the movie that we liked are mostly the props. To be more specific, this movie uses props that portray ’violence', such as a knife, and fake blood. We really like the idea, and are thinking of using similar props because it will most likely scare the audienc

What elements (Conventions) of the genre that you chose to base your final task on does this movie have?  To begin with, common camera angles and movement in IT CHAPTER 2 were tracking shot, two shot, and low angle. Low angles are the most common. I think this to make the people and environment seem creepier. It gives that sense of horror. Something very common in the movie is costume. First off, Pennywise is wearing a costume. Props such as the red balloons. The most important mis-scene seen in this movie is lighting. The dark shadow lighting is what makes this movie horror. The suspense of not knowing what is in that darkness. The sound in particular we caught was the voiceovers. Voiceovers create intensity which build the genre horror. Common editing used in this movie is shot-reverse-shot.  What elements (conventions) of the genre did the movie have and that you like?  Elements of the genre that we noticed this movie had were closeups, low angles, the color scheme, tracking shots,

Genre Decision Blog

Our group decided to choose the horror genre for multiple reasons. First of all, we have never produced a film of that genre before, which makes us curious and excited to see how the process goes. In addition, this genre will help us learn more techniques of filming. To be more precise, the movements and angles of that genre are much more different from the ones my group and I have previously done. That said, this will impact and expand our knowledge for this class. My group members and I were also hesitating between that genre and the comedy genre as well as the action genre. However, we came to the conclusion that the comedy genre would have to involve more dialogue and acting skills, which we do not have. For that reason, it was preferable not to choose it although it would have been an interesting experience. Moreover, we ended up not choosing the action genre due to the fact that it would involve a much more complex storyline. Because we did not have much creativity and ideas,

Our Pitch

Image
 1) A group of teenage girls have a sleepover only to find out that one of them will be the death of the rest.  - We would be interested in making this film, because we all love suspense and we have never tried to produce this type of genre. It could be interesting seeing how we work together on this project and create an acceptable film. We all enjoy watching horror films and would like to form something similar to it. Moreover, we believe there are more adaptable props that could improve our movie. Lastly, my groupmates and I all share a passion for horror movies, so we thought it would be a nice opportunity to recreate one.  2) A pair of childhood friends are oblivious to the fact that they both love each other. They soon find out the unexpected.  - We would not be interested in this film, because we would need a male character in order to go in accordance with the storyline. In other words, this is challenging because most of us aren’t comfortable enough with boys to go as far as f
