Production Blog: Music Overview

My group and I have not been able to meet up yet to film the first part of our movie. We have decided to schedule it for a later time since we all have busy schedules these days. Therefore, this first blog I am writing will be about the music we agreed on for the background of our film and how we chose it. To begin with, there were a multitude of options to pick from. It was very difficult coming to one final song. However, we found this was the creepiest and spin-chilling sound of them all. We had an entire list of the songs we had in mind. Some included Slendy's Lullaby, Chloe's Lullaby, and I Don't Want To Set The World On Fire. I had given these ideas, plus Tiptoe Through The Tulips. We all agreed this one, Tiptoe Through The Tulips, would be our best bet in making our soon-recorded film scary. Furthermore, my group and I had also observed and listened to examples of horror music in movies to see what would go best with ours. I had also heard one of my friends say that this artist, Tiny Tim, had died while performing this song making it even scarier. The song was originally made to be romantic but when sung by Tim, it turned it into an entirely different aura and vibe. To continue, this song was made in 1968 which makes it royalty free and guarantees no copyrights. Overall, I chose this song due to the sort of grainy sound that makes it sound even older which will fit our storyline. Also, I liked how it was on the ukulele which is usually characterized as one of the weird, creepy instruments in some circumstances. The song fit our storyboard too since its a creepy girl sort of "tiptoeing" her way into killing the rest of her friends. The voice of the singer, additionally, adds to the eerie sensation. One more thing about the song that my group and I favored was the various pitches that the artist hit with his vocals that portrayed a frightening mood. In the end, I made sure my group and I came to a collective agreement when choosing the song for our film which ended up being TipToe Through The Tulips by Tiny Tim.
