Film Review

My film is fairly close to done. We added all of the clips together but we haven't really edited yet. However, we urgently needed a film review to observe what was wonky and needed some improvements. Therefore, I asked my brother to tell me exactly what needed arrangements and the best things he liked throughout it. I told him to be extremely honest and give me constructive feedback. He said it would be no problem and that he would explain to me exactly what he felt needed adjusting. To begin with, he said the beginning needed to be darker to set the mood as eerie. He also said the credits needed to be in a creepier font that matched the genre. Next, he said the credits also needed to be positioned in a place that wouldn't cover the main parts of the acting, such as the person being filmed. Therefore, he said it would be better to put it on the side to avoid this. Then, he explained to me how the jump cuts of Brianna and I switching looked a bit off. He described it as being "too out of place". After, he said the title should be bigger and more noticeable compared to the other credits. He also said the jump cuts were really nice when it showed when Aleiah was killed. It was switching in between the creepy girl and Aleiah's bloody hand which gave the impression of spirits and something petrifying. My brother also explained how the acting could be a bit better but it was good for us not having any experience. The part where my head was banged on the glass door made him wonder how we got the blood just perfect. Then, he was surprised to encounter another set of jump cuts where the creepy girl is on the porch and Brianna is touching a knife. He said it was as if there was an essence of blood-curdling actions occurring throughout the house as the time passes and more people are getting killed. He loved the part where Lili screams in the shower. He said it looked very believable but felt that there needed to be a better lead up to that scene. He was excited to see the blood being smeared, because he thought it was a cool effect that brought a "wow factor". Lastly, he enjoyed the add-in of the doorbell sound and the scene of Aleiah "pressing" the doorbell.
