My group consists of four people, Lili Amblard, Brianna Reyes, Aleiah Luster, and myself. The person we are adding to our group this time around is Brianna. Over the first few months of school, I became really good friends with her and thought she would be a great asset to our team. I also decided to stay as a group with Lili and Aleiah. We have adapted to each other very well and know what capabilities each of us contain. To begin, Lili is a great asset to the team, because she is so sweet and gets her work done on time without procrastinating which keeps all of us on task as well. Also, she has a keen eye to anything that doesn't seem right or should be adjusted. Equally as important, Aleiah is patient and present in every conversation which gives us effective communication. Additionally, she has a brain full of amazing ideas that will work in favor to produce an excellent final product. Adding on, Brianna has great thinking skills and collaborates many of her ideas into our conv...

Hello, it's me again! My name is Angie Mendez and I am 15 years old. I was born on November 21, 2005 and I am a sophomore at Fort Lauderdale High School. I chose AICE Media Studies, because I have always possessed a liking in films and production. When I was younger, I would ask myself how the movies were made, how the characters moved, and how it all ended up as one great final product. A little about myself is that I love to paint and draw with any chance I acquire. I have had this passion for design since I was little and continue to enjoy it as a hobby to pass time. In addition, I love anything related to math. It intrigues me to use numbers and solve problems to have an ultimate answer in the end. In fact, all of my math classes in school always wind up being my favorite subjects to attend and participate. Furthermore, I adore spending quality time with my family. I was born in Florida, however my entire family is from Colombia. Having a large family is appreciable when you ne...

Creative Critical Reflection

 1. How does your products use or challenge conventions AND how does it represent social groups or issues? My products used conventions  by  u tilizing  the factor of showing the  distinctive designs  and colors that JanSport backpacks supply.  Most of the original JanSport commercials showed the patterns and creativity of the bookbags , so my group and I thought it was an excellent element to the film and dec ided to use it.  In addition, we used the brick edge to sit and show your feet in the camera with the bag.  This was seen in the first shot.  On the other hand , my product also challenged conventions due the fact that  in some of the  actual JanSport commercials  the actors  threw the backpacks in the water to show durability and sustainability.  They also used skateboards, showed students sneaking out of campus, and portrayed them running on the beach, however we  could n’ t  do this since ...

Commercial Blog

My group and I have finished the commercial! It was a lot of fun working with my team, Aleiah and Lili. We collaborated together effectively and efficiently throughout the whole making of the commercial. Creating the film helped my growth in the industry of media studies. Knowing all of the information I learned, I now know for future projects that it will be much easier to flow through the work. Furthermore, I had an exciting and crazy journey to get to this point in the project. My group and I put much consideration, hard work, and in the end displayed improvement in our filming skills. To record the commercial we used my phone and stand for stability, and Lili's iPad for editing. We worked through the heat and compromised ideas to fit everything into a 30-second video. All in all, I had a lot of enjoyment and I am pleased with the end result.

Today, October 13th, my group and I finished up our editing and completed our commercial. After aligning all of the clips together, I had to work on adding the sounds and voiceovers. This included asking the two people that helped my group and I for recordings of them saying "Pass it to Leila". Lili, Aleiah, and I also had to voiceover some of the lines that were crucial in adding to the commercial. To do this, my group, the two extra people, and I went outside of the classroom to find a quiet place. We wanted it to be silent so there was no confusion on what the person is saying and a clearer voice. The thing that happened to us however was that when we exited the classroom, the school's grass was being cut. Therefore, we had to go to the cafeteria and record our voices inside so there is no interruptions in the clips. The two extra individuals had to enunciate "Pass it to Leila" and Aleiah had to say that phrase too with an additional quote "Hey wait...

On October 11th, my group and I edited all of our shots together into one complete commercial. Since I had recorded all of the shots, I transferred them into an application called CapCut so my group could access it as well. Some of the shots we had taken were too long and took much space up from the entirety of the video. Therefore, my group and I had to cut some of them into shorter clips, while still having it make sense. We made everything fit into a final time of 28 seconds. However, it is still missing the logo that my group and I want to add at the end of the film. I feel that it is essential to add the JanSport logo to finalize the video. Not only will this conclude the commercial, but it will also remind the audience what product the video is persuading. It will leave them thinking of the name "JanSport" which will overall complete the goal of intriguing and making them want to purchase the backpack. Furthermore, referring back to my idea to make the commercial look v...
